Garett Campbell-Wilson

Biography

“The Creative Process, for me, is a Scientific Art Form. It is the discipline of using tangible material to create unique experiences for the viewer. I can express myself in one single beautiful stroke. When I create, I use my ability to capture the essence of the subject’s energy using both traditional and unconventional tools. I find much inspiration from studying African art, cultures of the ancient world, quantum physics and eastern philosophy. The greatest lesson I learned is that there are no limitations in achieving my goals. It is my love of art, dedication, perseverance, passion; friends and family that keeps me progressive.

Garett Campbell-Wilson was born in Vancouver, British Columbia in 1985. As long as he can remember he had wanted to be a professional artist. As a graduate of Arts Umbrellas Gifted Teen Scholarship Program for two consecutive years, opportunities led Garett to exhibits at the Buschlen Mowatt Galleries and several other venues within Canada and the US.

In his final year of high school, Garett earned a scholarship to attend ‘The Art Institute of Boston at Lesley University’. After completion of his freshman year, Campbell-Wilson won an additional scholarship contending in the ‘Best of Freshman Portfolio Competition’.

During his time in University Campbell-Wilson engaged himself in many projects outside of the classroom. In collaboration with Professor James Hoston, he created the Universities first Illustration magazine. In 2003, he produced a series of jewelry designs titled the ‘Iced Out Collection™’ for A Passion for Diamonds™. In 2004, Garett designed and painted a large scale mural for the Red Tiger Martial Arts facility. In 2005, he shot a series of documentaries at the Society of Illustrators in New York, featuring many leading professionals.

Campbell-Wilson graduated with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Illustration in summer 2007. Upon graduation, he accepted a position with the University to teach Anatomy and Figure Drawing for portfolio students.

In fall 2007 Garett returned to Vancouver and opened Gcamwil Studio, and is presently working on commission projects. It is from this location where he creates, develop concepts, and teaches painting and drawing.
